Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred Review

Are you as obsessed with the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred as I am? I did the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred after both my babies to lose the weight and guess what...it worked! So in honor of my getting back on the  bandwagon to lose my extra pounds from my holiday binge eating spree a few pounds from the holidays, I am doing a review of the video series for all who are interested in losing weight and toning up fast.

I lost weight each time I have done Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred without following her specific diet plan (although I ate healthy on my own).

Her first workout (Level 1) is a challenge in its own right. Jillian takes you through her tried and true plan of a quick warm up followed by three different circuits. Each circuit is made up of 3 minutes of strength training (think bicep curls while doing lunges), 2 minutes of cardio (jumping jacks, jump rope, etc.) and 1 minute of abs (bicycle crunches, etc.). Ideally, you would do this workout daily for 10 days and then move onto Level 2. HA! You will be WAY to sore to do this workout back-to-back. Instead, I did it every other day and substituted a pilates video or walking on my alternate days.

Level 2 is slightly harder, increasing each bit so much so that just enough to make you feel like you are going to die. You will likely start to see results when you begin this level. I noticed that my arms and legs were much firmer but that the ab workout wasn't quite enough. That is when I started Jillian's 6 pack in 6 weeks workout (more about that later).

Finally, Level 3 is as intense as you will want to get. But the great thing is that you will notice a big change in your endurance, strength and overall appearance. Yay for jeans fitting better!

Overall, the best part about this workout is that it is 20 minutes. That means I can fit a workout in post-breakfast and it is just long enough to get me sweating but not so long that my kids cling to me because I have neglected to entertain play with them for a whole half hour.

Ok, so back to my lack of abs review on Jillians 6 Pack in 6 Weeks. This workout is strenuous in the way that it is a lot of cardio packed into the almost-40 minute workout. But as for my abs? I didn't feel anything nor did I notice any change by week 3, which is when I switched to another tried-and-true ab workout that I love instead. My vote? Stick with Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred but skip her 6 Pack in 6 Weeks.

Have you tried Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred? What did you think?

  1. Hello,

Thank you for the review. Wondering which ab workout you are talking about when you said "I switched to another tried-and-true ab workout that I love instead"

  2. Hello Lena999,

Glad you found the review helpful. I ended up doing the ab and back workout by Amy Dixon on Exercise TV. However, I am currently loving the Barre 3 workout from Sadie Lincoln. It has done AMAZING things for my body in the past few weeks--I love it!

  3. This is a really good workout. It's geared a little more to advanced exercisers, but the choreography is fairly basic and you will definately feel this the next day.
There are three workouts that combine toning and aerobics together which are about a half an hour each. This way, you're burning fat and toning muscles at the same time. It's a little challenging, but fun and effective.
